Like every other day of the year: Happy Mother’s Day
It’s Mother’s Day. Frankly, I’m not a huge fan of all of these types of holidays: Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, etc. I get them, I support them (financially, to say the least) and I’m glad they make people happy. My goal, however, is to appreciate my loved ones on a much more regular basis than simply on those “special” days.
Perhaps I’m looking at it the wrong way, that maybe I should continue that thought, but as friends have told me, there’s nothing wrong with emphasizing love and support on one special day, too. Really, isn’t it a “get out of jail free” day for those who did nothing all year long?! Attitude adjustment time? Ok, I’ll work on it.
To that end, I’m off to get flowers for Mother’s Day, not just for my wife, Mom and mom-in-law, but for those moms who have had an impact on our family, especially our kids. It is a nice way to say “thank you” for all they do.
So, Happy Mother’s Day to all…with a special, heartfelt hug to those who find it a difficult time because of temporary absence, or loss. May your memories of your special, beloved mom comfort you throughout the day.
